I wonder who still reads these things...
Seeing as my last post was over a year ago, I'm gonna say no one...Anyway, that's pretty much because I have fully converted to MYSPACE
Here's my myspace

ahh!
I'm so scared right now... today i got hit in the eye point-blank range by a 6'2" german exchange student. So basically I've had a bit of a headache since then but i figured i'd be fine... then i got home and looked in the mirror and it turns out no one noticed that one of my pupils is huge! i tried shinning a light in it and that didn't really work... :( I'm pretty sure I have a lot of brain damage, i'm going to take a nap, i hope i don't fall into a coma...

Wow...just Wow
Okay I know I'm like 30 years behind but I finally got a Clash CD and WOW! I get it now. I got London Calling (for now) and 2 of my fav songs are on it (Lost in the supermarket & Train in Vain) so that worked out really well. I know Christine already figured this out months ago, but they're just one of those bands that are so easy to get into. Like I just got this one album and I think they're already one of my favorite bands. If you already like then you know exactly what I mean, if you don't just go out and buy any cd or just download something. They're just THE perfect band for the music I'm into. And Train in Vain - for some reason it's just one of those songs I can't get over.
Okay last thing, I saw this cd at HMV and got confused... I really don't think its a coincidence.

Been a while since I was your man...
I mean it's been a while since I posted on my blog... I've been listening to some Matt Good lately, I can't wait to hear the new stuff he's recording. I never got to see the 'been a while since...' video! Damn you Much music!!! Damn you to hell!! ANYWAY, April is THE month for new CDs and SO many concerts. New Hot Hot Heat April 5 then concert 22, new David Usher 26th, concert 28 but i don't think I'm going to that one :( Motley Crue should be really amazing though.
Speaking of concerts in April... the talent show is on the 21st which means about 28 days 'til I quit. Vanessa said she's quitting after this show too so I hope we stick together, but you guys have all heard this already... The point is no one likes 'finger-thumbs' cuz what's going to happen is Chris and Joey already started a metal band and hopefully me and Vanessa can get a non-homosexual band going -> If you want in tell me! Basically that'll be the goal for this summer.
This week is that week in the semester where there's nothing really big due so you relax a bit and slack off but at the same time every teacher gives you work and the date for your tests. That being said I have 3 HUGE test all next thursday and I'm probably going to fail cal!! AND my 25% english essay is due next week and I have a pretty important french composition. Anyway I'm freaking out, but for tonight "No homework WOO HOO!". Omg, I forgot to mention the 3 modules are comming up. I probably won't have time this week-end to get much done but Cal II is freaking me out the most, I was so happy when i managed to pass cal I and I thought this was going to be easier and that I was going to work harder but everyone else is doing amazing and I'm the only one fucking up.
(I usually don't, but I can't get it out of my head)
Way up in that sky
I look up and I wonder
If that's you passing by
It's been a while since I was your man
Used to shout up from outside
Wake you when you were sleeping
Now I walk the streets, I don't recognize nobody
It's been a while since I was your man
As time passed us by
We never felt like we should
We never did what we ought to
And folks they used to smile
And now they just think that they should
They just think that they should
We used to roll around on the floor
Get some Chinese delivered
Listen to Led Zeppelin IV
It's been a while since I was your man

Remeber when Matt Good got married?
Anyway, I was reading his blog which I haven't done for a while and there's a link to his wife Jen's blog. Her blog is pretty cool and she seems like fun...
Also, she looks like Jennifer Biel.
Did Matt Good marry Jennifer Biel?
Anyway I thought it was worth a click. CLICK

a little update on my boring life...
okay so i haven't updated on day to day stuff for a while now. Yesterday was the big 3 tests day and I survived, even if i did complain almost constantly... I know i can get pretty annoying so just remind me nicely and I'll try my darndest to stop.
And yesterday I found out that my band made it in for the talent show which is cool i guess, but Pasto and Todd's band didn't which sucks. Sunday we're all (we all= pasto's band + my band) going to Todd's house to record some songs for battle of the bands. No offence to my "bandmates" but I think this competition is going to be a little harder than the talent show so I don't think we'll make it in. Trying to record stuff should be interesting...
I've got nothing else planned for this weekend so lots of sleep and possibly more blogging, I almost forgot Chem homework ... Damn!
and I don't think our plan of going to Quebec city to see green day is going to work, sorry Christine:( Turns out it actually is like 6 hours away for those of you who doubted me.
Lastly: bands I've started getting into this week = Mars Volta, Dandy Warhols, Walkmen...
really good shit

I started writing this post WAY over a month ago...
I wanted to do a fun little year-end review like all the fancy magazines, but I realize no one cares what CDs I liked that came out this year and I'm not good at writing. That's never stopped me before so I decided to go on with it.
CDs that were released in 2004
2004 was a great year! They're in NO particular order...
Aerosmith -Honkin' On Bobo
This one came out all the way back in March. It's a collection of old Bar Blues songs done in Aerosmith style. The thing about this album is that it doesn't come off as a cheap album they slapped together to make money. This album is so good that you can even forgive them for the piece of crap that was "Just Push Play", but there is still much more repentance due for that whole "walk this way" at the super bowl thing with Britney and who ever else,(I know that was a long time ago...) Anyway, all I'm trying to say is it is a great album if you like Aerosmith for their Rock & Roll and not "Jaded"...
"Top Tracks":
The grind (only original on the album)
Never Loved A Girl(cover of Aretha's never loved a man)
Todd Kerns -Go Time!
If you don't know who Todd Kerns is, you don't know Can-Rock. He was the lead singer for Age of Electric (remember "remote control" that song still rocks). Anyway, when Age of Electric broke up, 2 groups emerged from the ashed: Limblifter and Todd's band Static In Stereo. SIS made 1 album which my cousin gave me, I never listened to it but I pulled it out again after I got his solo album. The story goes I was at HMV and I said "I want a CD, but I don't wanna pay more than $8" and there it was $7.99 (it wasn't even on sale). I figured it was fate, and I heard of him before so I got it. If you've talked to me ever I probably mentioned that Todd was lined up to be the singer for Velvet Revolver before they got Scott...I keep trying to get Christine to listen to this CD, but she still hasn't. When I listened to it I was really impressed. I'm really bad at trying to describe music :( So I'm not sure how to describe the sound of the record. Chart calls it "80s rawk". It's super catchy Rock , I think I was even singing one of these songs in my dream once.
"Top Tracks":
Indian Summer
All Fired Up
My True Love
The Tea Party -Seven Circles
This album is dedicated to Steve Hoffman ( as is Todd Kerns'). Steve was their manager, he died this year of lung cancer. That tragedy is what got Jeff writing. The album has a few mid-tempo songs that are obviously about Steve which are really beautiful. But, at the same time, this is their heaviest album rock wise. This CD is much more straight forward, no more of those songs that sound like they were written to confuse us. I just hate that they're making Scott Stapp's new record! EWW!! Anyway, The Tea Party are one of Canada's best bands and people seem to forget that so I've taken it as my mission to remind them. I don't really know what else to say...
"Top Tracks":
Oceans
Wishing You Would Stay
Stargazer
Incubus -Crow Left of The Murder
I got this album as a 2 for $25 deal. I think I listened to it once...For some reason I just never listen to it. I'm sure it's pretty good but it couldn't tell you...
"Top Tracks":
Megalomaniacs (I guess)
Ben Harper w/ The Blind Boys of Alabama -There Will Be A Light
I downloaded this CD cuz I did an oral on Ben Harper for my Afro class. I never really listened to it yet. The oral went really bad and I just don't really wanna be reminded. Barring my horrible experience, I think the critics like this album...if that matters. Basically Ben teamed up with a Gospel group to make a gospel album. It's good if you like that kind of thing.
I couldn't find a picture of the cover art.
"Top Tracks":
Picture of Jesus
The Music -Welcome To The North
I loved the music's fist album so I got this one right away. Most people were saying that the new CD is ever better, but I still like their debut more. There's just something missing, the charm that makes me really adore the debut seems to be missing from this one. That being said, it's a great record. I've heard this band being described as Led Zeppelin mixed with techno and Perry Farrell. They are just a super cool band (I'm SO bad at explaining!)
"Top Tracks":
Guide
Into the Night
I Need Love
U2 -How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
First of all, WORST album name ever! EVER!
Okay, so I bought into the hype. I mean you have to admit Vertigo was pretty catchy at first, but at this point if I hear that song again I think I might throw up in anger. I think it's a decent record but I don't think it lives up to the hype... It's no War or Joshua Tree but I guess it's about as good as the last one. I haven't listened to it much yet, so I can't be a fair judge. Don't get me wrong, it's good and I like it but it's not exactly ground breaking but neither is a lot of the other stuff I like...
"Top Tracks":
Love and Peace or else (dumb name but decent song)
Sometimes You Can't Make it on Your Own
Miracle Drug
The Used -In Love & Death
Same story as The Music, I just like the first album more. But that's probably because I think I usually get attached to the first Cd I listen to from a band. If you don't already know what they sound like, this is not one of those bands I would try to force you to listen to. If you already like them, then you know why they're good. You know what I mean??
"Top Tracks":
Take It Away
Cut Up Angels
I Caught Fire
Let It Bleed
Matthew Good -White Light Rock & Roll Review
I know, Matthew Good didn't make it in the special "best of the best" category, I know what you're thinking "that's madness!!" and I hate to admit it, but it's just not THAT good. I have to give him credit though, it is quite a step for him to go from Avalanche to this album. If I would have made a Top 6 this would definently be there...But like The Music and The Used, I like the previous a lot more...
"Top Tracks":
Been A While Since I Was Your Man
We're So Heavy
Empty Road
Blue Skies Over Badlands
Little Terror
The Waking Eyes -Video Sound
I fell in love with this band when I saw them open for Billy Talent, they're not the same style at all but I loved their set. I don't know what it was about them but I got their CD right away. It's that straight forward old fashioned rock sound.
They sound like The Beatles and The Who if they were alive and Canadian
"Top Tracks":
Watch Your Money
Move On
Takin' The Hard Way
Papa Roach -Getting Away With Murder
I can admit it I like Papa Roach... So it's not the deepest music, but I like it. I never realized how emo this band is. For the most part, they sound like The Used with shouting instead of screaming. I know when they came out they kinda got lumped into that whole "rap-rock" thing, but I swear if they did fit into that category at one point they really don't anymore. And was I dreaming or wasn't the singer kinda fat at some point? 'Cause now he's pretty hot...(*secret crush alert)
Fun fact: other secret crush= Eddie Vedder
"Top Tracks":
Scars
Sometimes
Take Me
Starsailor -Silence Is Easy
One of those British bands that never quite made it here. I think one of the reasons I like them so much is that they're virtually unheard of in canada, but I don't mind sharing - Listen to this band! I really don't know how to explain their sound, lots of piano and acoustic guitar... The singer is amazing, sounds like someone i don't know who.
"Top Tracks":
Silence Is Easy
Some Of Us
Music Was Saved
I think Christine would Kill me if I didn't include these CDs:
Franz Ferdinand -Franz Ferdinand
I'm sure you've heard one of their songs by now. Catchy, beat driven music. Super dancy. Want more details? ask Christine...
"Top Tracks":3
Michael
This Fire
Matinee
The Hives -Tyrannosaurus Hives
Okay, I've been working on this post for like 3 hours straight I really don't feel like explaining anymore. This CD rocks, trust me. It's all rock, it's like they cut out all the filler and condensed it into 30 minutes.
"Top Tracks":
A Little More For Little You
Diabolic Scheme
B is for Brutus
Best of the best
These 5 really stuck out, not to take away from the others. These are the CDs that if you don't have you have to go buy them or get a copy somehow...
Green Day -American Idiot
Most people would agree that this is the Best album of the year. The critics love it: it is nominated for all kinds of grammys, the fans love it and it did really good on the charts. All around it is the most sucessful album of the year (that doesn't suck), but I don't know that it's my favorite. It's just a personal thing, I mean I'm saying it's the best so don't complain...
"Top Tracks":
just listen to the whole thing
Personally I love the 5-part songs: Jesus of Suburbia and Homecomming
Jimmy Eat World -Futures
I THINK this is my favorite this year. I'm not even sure, I change my mind all the time... There's something about this CD, I can't get Night Drive out of my head. The whole album is just so perfect from beginning to end. Every single song is SO good.
"Top Tracks":
Night Drive
Kill
Work
23
The Streets -A Grand Don't For Free
This is the first "rap" CD I ever bought. I wish someone would make a movie based on this album! There an amazing on going story that goes through the whole album. By the you listen to the last song it just makes me smile. It's funny, I seem to have a lot less to say about the CDs I'm calling the top ones...:S
"Top Tracks":
Dry Your Eyes
Blinded By the Lights (NOT a cover)
I Could Well Be In
K-OS -Joyful Rebellion
I know it's crazy-> 2 rap CDs in the top 5!? This Album is SO good no matter what kind of music you listen to. And, I guess I picked these 2 to be in the top 5 because they are so different from what I normally listen to... I think I'm working my way up to a Nas album. The thing with this album is it's "rap" but almost all the songs are guitar/ acoustic guitar driven not "techno".
"Top Tracks":
Commandante
The Love Song
Hallelujah (not a Leonard Cohen cover)
Dirty Water w/ Sam Roberts
Auf Der Maur-Auf Der Maur
I kinda wrote this thing in a mixed up order cuz this is the last one i write, and my writing is horrible. I think I used the word "good" or "amazing" or "definitely" a million times and I only gotten more sloppy and crappy. Anyway, Auf Der Maur is well worth a listen. I think it proves that you don't have to scream or yell to rock hard. They're really good live too...
"Top Tracks":
Would If I Could
I'll be Anything You Want
Followed The Waves
Overpower Thee
Loved these in 2004
Okay so this is the I'm a little late category. These are CDs that come out before '04, but I only got(downloaded mostly) them this year
Jeff Buckley -Grace
I'm not exactly sure why, but this album has become my current obsession. If you've talked to me lately you would have noticed. I think it's just SO perfect. It's that early 90s music I love, but it still sounds fresh. It reminds me a bit of Temple of the Dog... Grace sounds like the album Chris Cornell was trying to make when he recorded Euphoria Morning which is one of my all time favs. I think that's why I like this album SO much.
Interesting fact: Jeff's dad was a folk singer named Tim Buckley who recorded an album named Starsailor which is where the band got their name. I downloaded some Tim Buckley stuff but there's something about his voice I don't like, but I LOVE Robert Plant's cover of Song of the Siren.
"Top Tracks":
Halleluja (ya the Cohen song)
Lover, You Should Have Come Over
Grace
The Killers-Hot Fuss
You've heard the first 2 singles by now for sure. People keep lumping them into the category of 80s resurection, but this really it's so much better than that. First of all if you like bass listen to this band! (so much bass) Don't let the little bits of synth fool you this is a rock band. Lastly, even though most of these songs will make you wanna get up and dance all crazy, it's actually pretty dark. The whole band is really talented, the songs are super well writen. SO much bass...
They sound like Franz Ferdinand minus the stomp...
"Top Tracks":
All These Things That I've Done
Jenny Was a Friend Of Mine
Midnight Show
Billy Talent -Billy Talent
By now I think you've heard enough of their songs to know pretty much what they sound like. This Cd came out last year but I got into a lot after the concert, which was a pretty great show. Catchy songs, decent lyrics and a cool singer = good band, what else could I say.
"Top Tracks":
Line and Sinker
Nothing To Lose
River Below
Hot Hot Heat -Make Up The Breakdown
I think these guys were mentioned in every issue of Chart for a while but I never bothered to figure out who they were. Then I heard Bandages and loved it, but I still wasn't totally into them yet. It was when Kathy made me download Talk to Me Dance With Me that I really got into them. I really have no idea how to describe this band... To me they sound like The Killers plus lots of energy, you know what I mean?
"Top Tracks":
Bandages
Naked In The City Again
Oh Goddamit
No, Not Now
The Distillers -Coral Fang
This CD I actually remember why I bought. First, I saw the video for Drain the Blood and really liked the song. Then for some reason we listened to this on prom night, I loved it so I bought it soon after. Since then it quickly became one of my favorite albums. I love every single song.
"Top Tracks":
-They're All SO Good!!
Drain The Blood
The Gallon Is God
Beat Your Heart Out
Hall of Mirrors
Hole -Live Through This
I never liked Hole, but something made me download Live Though This and Celebrity Skin. I really don't remember what, maybe it's 'cause I started listening to The Distillers and ya they kinda sing the same. I'm not saying they sound identical, but come on... It's a definite must-have for a few reasons. Love of hate Courtney Love, she's one of the few females that can rock as hard as the guys. If you like "grunge" it doesn't get much closer than this. Honestly, at this point I would rather listen to this than Nevermind... If you think you don't like Hole, or even hate them, just put that aside and actually listen to this album.
"Top Tracks":
Violet
Miss World (Ya I know I went for the singles)
Doll Parts
Jennifer's Body
Hole -Celebrity Skin
This album came out in that time when Courtney was looking good and starting to get respect for some movie she was in. That didn't last very long...Anyway, this album compared to Live Through This is much more polished, more "pop". That being said, that doesn't mean this cd sucks. I love this record, I think it really shows that Courtney Love actually has tallent. There's a few really great "ballad" type songs like Northern Star and Dying.
"Top Tracks":3
Awful
Malibu
Reasons To Be Beautiful
Northern Star

Okay my last post sucked...
I was just upset cuz i had said I was going to take advantage of my break to do something productive... I'll get over it.
So, last night I watched Singles again , this tine I made Kathy watch it. It's not that great of a movie but I have a feeling that I going to end up watching it like a million times. Pearl Jam and AIC and Soundgarden are in it and everytime Eddie or Chris Cornell came on screen we both just went "awwwwww" cuz they look so cute and young and lanky, but they don't have lines cuz they can't act. But Jeff from Pearl Jam is WAY too good at acting so he did any talking...
I'm going to make something to eat but I have a feeling this might be one of those 3 or 4 post days...
When the fuck did it become Wednesday? Holy crap!
It looks really nice and sunny outside, but I probably won't leave my room for another day in as row... I've wasted my vacation playing Free Cell all day. I managed to play for like 4 hours yesterday
I think I need to do school supply shopping before we go back
...shoot me
